HISTORY

Hailing from New Beag in Space Sector 2909, Grubber is described as a "spider-serpent creature" that hunts using a distinctive "venomous harpoon-like tongue" to paralyze its prey. While Grubber's full history remains unrevealed, the creature was at some point slain by Larfleeze and subsequently transcriber into the Orange Lantern Corps as an energy construct.

As a construct, Grubber was part of the horde that tore apart five Controllers who attempted to steal Larfleeze's Central Power Battery. His construct was once more among the Orange Lanterns battling the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps when they arrived on Okaara.

In a strategic move to eliminate potential rivals, the Guardians revealed the location of the Blue Lantern Corps' homeworld to Larfleeze, leading Grubber and the rest of the Orange Lantern Corps to attack Odym to steal the Blue Lanterns' Central Power Battery. However, Larfleeze was forced to withdraw his forces to deal with the immediate threat of the Black Lantern Corps. Ironically, the Black Lanterns were those that Larfleeze had killed over the ages, included a reanimated version of the actual Grubber.

Grubber’s next appearance occurred after an unknown entity stole a power ring from each hue of the Emotional Spectrum. Outraged by the theft, Larfleeze took his grievances and his Orange Lantern constructs to Oa to confront the Guardians. Ultimately, it was revealed that Larfleeze's "pet" Guardian, Sayd, had orchestrated the entire events. Though Grubber has not made another appearance, he is likely still bound to Larfleeze, existing only as a construct within the Orange Lantern Corps.

BLACK LANTERN: GRUBBER

During the Blackest Night event, black power rings descended upon Okaara, reanimating Grubber as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. Joining an undead horde intent on destroying Larfleeze's Orange Central Power Battery, Grubber was initially held at bay by the combined efforts of Red Lantern Atrocitus and Blue Lantern Saint Walker. However, the conflict reached its turning point upon the arrival of Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Star Sapphire Carol Ferris and Sinestro, whose combined powers ultimately severed the Black Lanterns' connections to their rings.
