HISTORY
Hraalkar was a new recruit in the Green Lantern Corps, joining at one of its most tumultuous times, the eve of the Blackest Night. The battery shell protecting Oa had collapsed, a warning of worse to come.[1]
Alongside his mentor, Glibberquip, the rookie fought a desperate defense of the Central Power Battery. Severely injured but undeterred, his survival was only ensured when Glibberquip forcibly removed him from the front lines, preventing him from being claimed by the Black Lantern Corps.
While recovering from the physical and psychological trauma of the war, Hraalkar was kidnapped from the Corps barracks by Varix. He was requisitioned by the Alpha-Lanterns to bolster their ranks. Against his will, Hraalkar underwent the cosmic surgery, a cold, mechanical process that stripped away his biological individuality to turn him into a cyborg enforcer. Following his conversion, Hraalkar’s autonomy was suppressed. He participated in the abduction and conversion of his former mentor, Glibberquip.[2]
The controlling force behind the Alpha-Lanterns was Hank Henshaw, Cyborg Superman. From their new headquarters, Sector House Alpha, on the planet Grenda and more Green Lanterns were drawn in for forcible conversion. Hralkar was among the Alpha-Lanterns that captured Green Lantern John Stewart to be used as bait to draw in Ganthet.[3]
Henshaw used the Alpha-Lanterns as surgical test subjects, forcing Ganthet to find a way to reverse the cyborg process so Henshaw could become human and finally die.[4] Hraalkar was one of the many unsuccessful surgeries. The Cyborg Superman's plans failed as the Green Lanterns and Grendans overthrew his control. [5]
Sometime afterwards, Hraalkar was one of several Alpha Lanterns were found adrift in space. This was a bid by the renegade Guardian Krona to control the Green Lantern Corps itself.[6]
In the aftermath of Krona's defeat, the Alpha-Lanterns were stationed on Oa to serve the Guardians. While Hraalkar was among them, his current status is unknown.[7]
