HISTORY
The history of Vant Orl prior to his conquest of the planet Thronn has yet to be revealed. In short order he was able to imprison its local heroes, the Honor Team of Thronn. They were trapped within a specialized "ergal prism" on their moon, Memal.
Unbeknownst to Vant Orl, the hero Energiman used his last bit of strength to reach across the stars to draw Green Lantern Hal Jordan to Memal and the ring wielder vowed to free Thronn from its conqueror.
On Thronn, Vant Orl used his technology and telepathic powers to unleash numerous threats against the Green Lantern, but to no avail. It was Vant Orl's over confidence that led to his downfall. Green Lantern surmised the conqueror was influencing the power ring but his foe was not aware of its weaknesses. Jordan was able to block Vant Orl's control and launch a devastating attack of his own. No longer hampered by Vant Orl's influence, he was able to return to Memal and break the ergal prism, feeling the surviving Honor Team of Thronn. Vant Orl has nort been heard from since.[1]
POWERS AND WEAPONS
Along with access to high technology, Vant Orl possessed tremendous willpower and the ability to project his thoughts. His thoughts worked on the same wavelength as the power ring.
